Final Assignment: An imaginative fiction story through native eyes: by Greg Sheperd

The day started like every other college student's day by making a journey to the bank. Approaching the money-eating facility, all I could think about was dwindling gained profits... and how to keep feeding this much needed monetary beast. Cool, its another Friday and no classes... what to do...
At one of the many beautiful designed curb sites, I jumped aboard the city transit bus like a proud city commuter eager to take on the day. Finding a seat I couldn't help but to  reminisce to myself that as a college student, the joyous rides practically cost me nothing at all by a swipe of my student ID. I was on my way to the dentist's office.
Dental student finals... Just my day; incentive to get those pearly-whites cleaned, and the best part was that students would pay YOU to get YOUR chompers cleaned. The day just got a whole lot better.
My teeth were cleaned and I walked out with some extra cash. Still tasting the fluoride I decided to chill in a park. I found a nice haven but realized a unique, interesting tree with almost no leaves in the middle of a young green park and in the middle of the summer. Hmm... figuratively speaking, this park has skeletons in it's closet.
Left the park wondering the fate that lies with that tree, I noticed nice shiny ponies across the way. Was attracted to the shine and decided to test my golden tongue and bartering skills for a try at a new toy... hopefully one has my name on it.
Ponies had a high cost on them, didn't walk out with one but still wanted one. Instead of wishing I decided to apply my new talent for more much needed income. Entered the Pro Digital Photography shop, sending in my best charm and "selling-myself" skills. Feeling confident.
After a soul searching interview; a tremendous appetite was built up. Headed to a nearby favorite spot for chow and was hoping to catch up on the occasional updates on all the native gossip in the areas. Ended up hanging out for a while, sharing favorite fishing spots, adventures and many meaningless conversations. Always a really good back-at-home-feeling meal.
Persuaded to try another native's hot fishing spot with a new found friend. I purchased a pole and tackle with the extra cash gained today and we visited the pond near the Interstate. Unfortunately didn't catch a meal thinking it may just be too busy and noisy of a spot to get that nice catch. We decide to try another spot but where?
A local well-stocked pond with over-the-pond pier. Perfect. The dusk approached and I was at the right place at the right time with no worries on a Friday evening and most important, not any noise from the interstate or city. Thought to myself with a smile, this is the best way to fish.
After a stress free day of gaining extra cash, the inspiration for a new ride and hopefully a new career (if they call back), the much needed native updates and fresh trout fishing caught with a new native friend; I headed up the last flight of stairs to the well known man cave to cook a meal. Prepped sides for the grilled trout and enjoyed the meal. This is was a Friday to remember.

The End.

Assignment 4: 3 Portraits, depth of field.

Portrait of unknown individual; narrow depth of field: Jerry in the shade sitting on a bench on a public walkway.

Portrait of known individual, with great depth of field: Rebekah Sheperd (playful neice), having summer afternoon fun in the sun next to a cherry tree.

Protrait of myself (but not as my self), with narrow depth of field: Private contractors/Security contractors (Mercenary): A mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict, who is not a national or a party to the conflict, and is "motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party". (Wikipedia) Equipment: AR-15 long barrel, head gear, plate insert body armor and outer shell magazine carrier. All gear is pertaining to earth tone colors (black and light tan). Cap design is a known design in the profession.

This assignment made me realize that getting that perfect focused image is difficult, and frustrating. The tripod worked well, white reflectors helped almost all photos taken and a purchased remote was very helpful for better focused images. The most important of all is the people in the people who are involved in the portraits.  Much thanks to Jerry, Rebekah, and the one who is not seen, Elroy Louis, who provided, educated, and helped myself on military background understandings and equipment knowledge for this self portrait (not me) to be successful.

On this photo session I realized the lighting will play an very important role in the outcome of your photo. Light room is handy; I realize that a photo could be altered for a more vibrant photo but hopefully I could master the shots with out much Lightroom exposure and white balancing. These are great shots of Chris, Emily, Connor, and McKay using Lightroom 4. Thanks.

Assignment 2 - Numbers

This assignment I learned that planning is important and not being prepared could be very time consuming. Creativity is essential and patience could also be tested. Images of numbers from zero to ninety-nine, seven optimal images chosen.
